Noon Passama Formal Research initially focused on one classical type of jewellery: the chain. This project primarily explored the form of each link and how the links then interconnect with each other. The form of a link can be very iconic, and its genesis can be compared to designing a typeface. Creating chain necklaces is a balancing act between technical and aesthetic aspects. It is like composing a sentence out of a transformable typeface. In the forthcoming exhibition, Noon Passama presents chain necklaces and one-off edition hand-sculpted bracelets. The groups of bracelets were crafted with the following keywords in mind: dividing / sequencing / sizing / layering. During the sculpting process, the shapes were transformed by manipulation and time. The results were not edited and are presented as they turned out. The try-outs are the end-products, and vice versa.
