Maike Dahl, Milchtüten, jugs, 2011, silver

Maike Dahl works with silver as if it were paper. She cuts and folds the thin silver sheet into forms like dishes, boxes, beakers and bowls. She applies traditional ways of joining metal in both a structural and decorative manner. Soldering secures the forms and makes them functionally useful. The whitening of the silver followed by a light sanding keeps the work subtle and restrained.
